Paisley and I are reading Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl. Tonight, I read something that Paisley responded...."Is this about George Bush?" I thought I would share what I read.......
The Nurse's Song This mighty man of whom I sing, The greatest of them all, Was once a teeny little thing, Just eighteen inches tall. I knew him as a tiny tot, I nursed him on my knee. I used to sit him on the pot And wait for him to wee. I always washed between his toes, And cut his little nails. I brushed his hair and wiped his nose And weighed him on the scales. Through happy childhood days he strayed, As all nice children should. I smacked him when he disobeyed, And stopped when he was good. It soon began to dawn on me He wasn't very bright, Because when he was twenty-three He couldn't read or write. "What shall we do?" his parents sob. "The boy has got the vapors! He couldn't even get a job Delivering the papers!" "Ah-ha," I said, "this little clot Could be a politician." "Nanny," he cried, "Oh Nanny, what A super proposition!" "Okay," I said, "let's learn and note The art of politics. Let's teach you how to miss the boat And how to drop some bricks, And how to win the people's vote And lots of other tricks. Let's learn to make a speech a day Upon the T.V. screen, In which you never never say Exactly what you mean. And most important, by the way, In not to let your teeth decay, And keep your fingers clean." And now that I am eighty nine, It's too late to repent. The fault was mine the little swine Became the President.

July 6, 2006Pictures on the way....
It has been a while but I have just been real busy with birthdays, work & teaching. This morning after Mark's radio show we are dropping off the kids with Auntie Fiona & Uncle Brad and are heading down to LA to stay for a couple of days. This trip was planned by djmark for my 30th birthday! Tonight we are going to the Hollywood Bowl to see Belle & Sebastion play with the LA symphony and the Shins are opening up. I am sooooo excited. We are staying at the Standard in Hollywood and have plans for Ameoba and shopping galore. This is a much needed vacation and I can't wait. Woo-hoo!

August 26, 2005Sunset Junction here we come!
So... after a crazy couple of weeks and a couple of bizarre nights (Paisley sleepwalked last night and ended up inside Otis's crib), we are headed on an ADULT only mini vacation. I plan on drinking lots of alcoholic beverages in bars in the middle of the day and eating in restaurants and taking my time!!!!! I can't wait. What a great way to celebrate Otis's first year of life (Saturday).

August 4, 2005A sad day at FSHToday is the first day without the Behrens Family. We have lived in Family Student Housing for the past 4 years. Right after we moved in and Paisley was born we met Mike, Michelle and Owen. We have enjoyed many BBQS, screaming children, whining children, pregnancies, gossip, births, messy houses, sick kids and everything else that takes place in our wacky apartments. When we dropped them off at the airport yesterday (see djmark) it really hit me. I am going to miss all of the things I might have ever complained about and would take them back in an instant for them to move back. I have watched Owen learn to crawl, walk and learn his colors. I have been there during Michelle's pregnancy with Josie and saw Josie when she was less than one day old. I have watched Mike bring weird scientific stuff home from school and we played with it in the backyard. Anyways, FSH will not be the same. Sure, we have our fair share of people still here but the Behrens were something special. I will miss them.

July 17, 2005Paisley's first day of school
So... tomorrow is Paisley's first day of school. She is in bed to rest up and we have packed her Yellow Submarine lunch box, extra clothes and sunblock in her brand new backpack. I am so excited, nervous, sad and happy about this day. It is really weird because I never would have guessed that this would be such a big deal for me and Mark. I am sure that we are going to be in tears when we drop her off tomorrow morning. She is such a fun, smart, cool, amazing kid and I am excited to see and hear about all she learns. But... at the same time I am so happy to spend some one on one time with Otis. He is getting to be such a funny little guy with a lot of personality. My kids are getting older.
